I want favorable placement with the search engines...
Many of our customers come to us and ask us to help make their website achieve favorable placement in search engines. This is a tall order for any website considering the vast number of websites on the internet today.
However, there are a few things the website designer can (and should) do to their site to help it with search engine placement.
- Meta Tags: The most common way to get correct/favorable placement with search engines.
- <meta name="description" content="... ">
- <meta NAME="keywords" content="... ">
- Descriptive <TITLE> tags
- Content (TEXT!) on your pages (esp. the homepage/index.html page) that repeats what your site is about. Good use of alt tags within your image tags can be helpful too.
In truth, to get favorable placement in the top search engines when searching under broad terms like "Jewelry", it takes more than simple tags in a webpage. It take hours of time submitting and re-submitting your site to these search engines since the actual order and terms that you use can greatly affect your placement. Every search engine is different with respect to the criterion in which they use to place your site in their database.
